Detroit Lakes, Minnesota Fishing Report
This is the Fishing Report for 15 February 2012 sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce. You may also hear this report by calling 218.847.5743 or 1.800.433.1888.
Good ice conditions and great weather! Travel still remains easy in the Detroit Lakes area as we still have very little snow cover. We just finished up a cold front that slowed the fishing down some. We are back into above average temps now with a positive, stable forecast through the weekend.
The walleye bite has slowed in our area over the past week or two. Some fish are still getting caught, but the slow down is typical for this time of year. The evening bite is still the best with a fairly short window of activity. Perch, sunfish, and crappie action remains good to hot in our area. The most active bites have been on Cotton, Little Detroit, Melissa, Tamarac, Rock, and all of the Cormorant lakes. Small jigs, jigging spoons with wax worms or small minnows have been producing.
